- Crafty Chicks was started in 1999. So what came first...the chick or the egg? It was a sweet chick in China that a co-worker was adopting. Our friend wanted to raise some money to help with expenses so we decided to have an arts and crafts sale. We began as Crafty Chicks and Jim, but Jim retired and we got tired of being asked "Where's Jim?". The event has evolved into a venue for creative individuals with most having a connection to Hallmark Cards. We have many participants who have been in Crafty Chicks from the beginning and each year it continues to grow. Crafty Chicks is a yearly event and celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity of all the participants.
